November 15th, 2023	Kidney Foundation Scholarships	The Gavin Turley Scholarship- This scholarship, open to candidates from within Canada, is awarded annually to a volunteer or employee for the purpose of furthering their training in one or more of the disciplines of community development, organizational development and/or collaborative change management initiatives. Applicants must have demonstrated leadership in facilitating community engagement on behalf of the Kidney Foundation and wish to use this opportunity to further their personal and professional development. The scholarship will provide one-time financial support of up to $1,000 to assist the successful candidate’s enrollment in a related educational program The Harvey Thomson Scholarship- This scholarship, open to candidates from within Canada, is awarded annually to a volunteer or employee to further their training in one or more of the following disciplines: Community development Organizational development Organizational change management Policy Governance / Corporate Governance / Organizational Governance / Public Administration & Governance Applicants must have demonstrated leadership in facilitating community, group and individual engagement on behalf of The Kidney Foundation and must wish to use this opportunity to further their personal and professional development. December 1st, 2023	Terry Fox Humanitarian Award	Awarded to true humanitarians, individuals who are compassionate and altruistic in their intentions to improve the lives of others and human welfare overall. Terry Fox Scholars are "doers" with the ability to inspire and make a positive impact on the lives of others. In making their selection, they seriously consider the extent to which candidates have experiences and overcome what other might consider an insurmountable obstacle, yet are determined and dedicated to helping others. They do look for good marks and involvement in athletic and civic life, but these factors don't weigh as heavily as courage and humanitarianism. They are interested in students who demonstrate compassion and a keen commitment to easing the suffering of others, especially those who address critical needs in society. March 28, 2026	The Chris Huskilson Emera Scholarship	Valued at $40,000, the scholarship is available to an Atlantic Canadian student attending an Atlantic Canadian university for studies in the related areas of science (natural), technology, engineering, entrepreneurship or math. Recipients of the scholarship are eligible for $10,000 per year for four years. April 30th, 2026	Assumptions Foundation Scholarship	Assumption Life Foundation gives out 6-7 bursaries of $1500 to students who attain certain academic standards and who have financial needs. To qualify for one of these bursaries, the applicant needs to be enrolled as a full-time student in a post-secondary institution, such as college or university. May 3rd, 2026	Elmer MacDonald Memorial Bursary- Crapaud Exhibition- Self Nomination	The Elmer MacDonald Memorial Bursary was established by the Crapaud Exhibition to honour the legacy of Elmer MacDonald, a long-time community leader and past president of the Crapaud Exhibition. Elmer was deeply committed to agriculture, youth involvement, and community service. This bursary recognizes graduating students who demonstrate a strong interest in agriculture, a willingness to be involved in their community and a desire to pursue post-secondary education in an agriculture based field. May 22nd, 2026	The Wessex Scholarship	The Wessex Scholarship is presented annually to commemorate the visit by His Royal Highness The Prince Edward, Earl of Wessex to IWK Health in November 2015. A $5,000 award, this scholarship recognizes the important role community service has played in supporting the IWK in providing exceptional care to patients and families. The Wessex Scholarship is awarded to a deserving individual by the IWK Foundation. Eligible applicants will be graduating from an Atlantic Canadian high school and entering a post-secondary health care degree level program at an Atlantic Canadian institution (please see Appendix A for a list of eligible programs). This scholarship focuses on the impact of community service and as such, applicants should be active participants in their community. A minimum grade average of 80 per cent is required. Students who have applied, but have not ye been accepted into an eligible program may still apply for Wessex Scholarship and may be asked to provide proof of acceptance at time of award if selected.
