The student council executive elections for this year will take place Wednesday, May 1st. The position of president is open to students who are in grade 12 next year and the vice president and two executive positions are open to students who are in grade 11 or 12 next year. Students interested in the positions are to submit their names to Mr. Stewart by 3:00 PM tomorrow. All students who put forth their names will be interviewed, and those who are deemed capable of taking on the roles can run for the positions.
The Blazer Showdown will be at noon in the gym from next week. Each day the event will consist of only 8 students from each grade competing against each other. The event involves each competitor accumulating points for successfully making basketball free throws, throwing a dodge ball through the hula-hoop, hitting the targets on a hockey net and kicking soccer balls at bowling pins. The finalists from each grade will compete to see who the winner is. Today, the student council will go around to classes to explain how the event will work during the period 4 class. During that time, students can submit their names to be put into a draw to be a competitor, and 8 names will be selected from each grade to compete in the event. Teachers wishing to compete can also submit their names. All competitors will be notified in the morning announcements when they will compete, and their names will be posted outside the office.
On Thursday the student council will be having a jersey day at school so show some spirit and wear your favorite jersey!
